Daniel Ricciardo Teases Shocking F1 Departure in Emotional Singapore GP Speech

Daniel Ricciardo’s Potential F1 Exit

After an emotional post-race interview with Sky Sports F1 following the Singapore Grand Prix, Daniel Ricciardo has sparked speculation about his potential exit from Formula 1. Ricciardo, reflecting on his return to the sport post-McLaren, candidly acknowledged, “I also have to acknowledge why I came back after the McLaren stint. I always said I don’t want to come back just to be on the grid, I want to try and fight back at the front and get back with Red Bull.”

Despite aspirations to compete at the front, the desired fairytale ending has eluded him. “Obviously it didn’t come to fruition so then I also have to ask myself the question ‘well, then what else can I achieve and what else is there to really go for?'” he mused. Proudly looking back on his 13-year career, Ricciardo remarked, “I put my best foot forward, let’s say the fairytale ending didn’t happen but I also have to look back on what it’s been. Thirteen or so years and I’m proud.”

Voted ‘Driver of the Day’ in Singapore, he found this accolade particularly meaningful: “Typically the driver of the day is not something us drivers look too much into, but today I can say it’s something I’m appreciative of. That one today means a little something.”

As rumors swirl about Liam Lawson potentially taking his VCARB seat, Ricciardo seems to be at peace with the potential end. “I have to be prepared for this maybe being it,” he conceded. “Let’s say I’m at peace with it.”

Ricciardo’s 18th place finish in Singapore, coupled with the fastest lap that took a crucial point from McLaren’s Lando Norris, underscores a challenging but impactful presence in this pivotal race.
