Sergio Perez Reveals Shocking Red Bull Strategy Amid Singapore GP Heat Battle

Sergio Perez, Red Bull Racing driver, revealed a significant detail after the grueling Singapore Grand Prix: “I didn’t have a drink during my race.” Racing under extreme conditions with temperatures around 32°C (89.6°F) and high humidity, the event proved to be a true test of endurance.

The Marina Bay Street Circuit, known for its physically demanding nature, saw Lando Norris securing first place, followed by Max Verstappen in second, and Oscar Piastri in third. Despite the tough conditions, the race remarkably went without a safety car intervention.

Drivers visibly struggled with the relentless heat. George Russell remarked, “The conditions inside my W15 F1 car’s cockpit were like a sauna,” highlighting the brutal atmosphere. Norris had several close calls with the barriers, nearly damaging his car’s front wing, reflecting the general fatigue among drivers.

Formula 1 cars are typically fitted with a 1.5-liter fluid bag, either behind the seat or in the car’s nose, connected to a drinking system controlled by a steering wheel button. However, for weight-saving reasons, Red Bull omitted this system for Perez, creating a risky situation. Formula 1 drivers can lose up to 5 kg during a race due to dehydration, posing severe health risks.

Despite not facing severe health issues, Perez’s lack of hydration could have compromised his performance and safety, especially following his recent collision with Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari.
