The VCARB (RB) F1 team has taken a bold step in merging the realms of fashion and motorsport by unveiling a striking new denim-inspired livery for the Singapore Grand Prix at Marina Bay. In collaboration with their apparel partner HUGO, a brand under the renowned fashion company HUGO Boss, the team has introduced a car design that integrates HUGO’s signature style in a way never seen before on the F1 circuit.

The livery’s standout feature is a zip detailing that runs from the sides to the rear, creating an illusion that the car is clad in denim, especially noticeable on the nose. This theme pays tribute to HUGO’s iconic denim designs, marking a significant milestone in the intersection of racing and fashion.

Drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda will fully embrace the denim theme, wearing custom racing suits and HUGO outfits throughout the race weekend. The entire garage crew will also be adorned in the denim aesthetic, enhancing the immersive experience for fans and emphasizing the partnership’s unique nature.

Ricciardo expressed his enthusiasm for this groundbreaking collaboration, stating, “Over the years we’ve seen fashion brands join forces with F1 teams and drivers, especially when it comes to outfits, but never have we seen any of them take this step in full immersing themselves on track too. We’re really raising the stakes here and paving the way, showcasing that there’s so much more that can be done for brands to explore. I think we’re definitely going to open the eyes of these fashion houses and see more fashion-inspired liveries come to life.”

Echoing Ricciardo’s sentiments, Tsunoda highlighted his personal passion for fashion. He remarked, “Fashion is one of my passion points, so to see our team collaborating in such a unique way, beyond our team kit and our daily HUGO outfits is super cool, especially since no one else has ever done it before. Doing something like this is a real reflection of our identity and creativity; at VCARB, we’re looking to speak to fans from all industries: art, music, fashion, so this is a real step towards everything we’re striving to do as a team.”

This initiative by VCARB aims to blend the worlds of fashion and Formula 1 on a more immersive level, potentially setting a trend for future collaborations between teams and fashion brands. By pushing the boundaries of traditional sponsorships, VCARB is showcasing how creative partnerships can enhance fan engagement and bring new dimensions to the sport.

Meanwhile, other F1 teams are also making notable changes. Mercedes is set to update their car’s livery in celebration of 50 years with Petronas, featuring more of Petronas’ Emerald Green on the W15 F1 car. Red Bull, initially planning to sport a fan-voted livery, faced challenges due to added weight issues with the special paint on their RB20 F1 car and decided to stick with their original design to maintain performance.

As VCARB’s innovative approach unfolds at the Singapore Grand Prix, the blend of high fashion and high-speed racing will undoubtedly capture the attention of both racing enthusiasts and fashion aficionados. This collaboration not only enhances the visual appeal of the team but also signifies a step towards a more interconnected and versatile future for partnerships in Formula 1.
